You Bet Your Sweet Bippy...

I heard a co-worker utter this phrase today. My immediate reaction was as follows:

- What is a bippy?
- Is the sweet bippy a variation of a regular bippy?
- How much does a bippy run for that you'd be willing to gamble with it?

These questions still remain unclear, but rest assured, I'm working on it. Hopefully Google will come through for me as it usually does.

I've hinted at this in previous posts, (i.e. turning over a new leaf) but I'm still amazed at how many phrases we use that make little to no sense anymore. "Turning over a new leaf", as I've mentioned, refers to turning over a page in a book, or in the metaphoric sense, "turning to a new leaf in the book of your life." It only recently dawned on me that the leaf in question is not an actual leaf from a tree.

My buddy Dave over at Sheldon Comics http://www.sheldoncomics.com would agree with me when I say: That's a whole lot of lumber. (read his blog to get the joke).

The forum's open on this one. What other sayings have you heard that make no sence?

Bottom dollar sounds at least reasonable. But then again, who knows..that's why I stick with "that's a whole lotta lumber".

How about Bite MY A$$ -now who would really say that and mean it? But still people say it.

It was Laugh-In. One of the greatest comedy shows of all time..and that's not just because of Goldie Hawn in a bikini...though it helped.

Out of curiousity, I ran a search for the "sour bippy"...it produced some porn sites and a really strange German site. I left it alone.

First of all Goldie Hawn in a bikini is NASTY so STOP IT! :)
